The project is part of the EU Action “EU for Energy Efficiency and Environment” and the project “Natural Resource Management and Ecosystem Services for Sustainable Development of Rural Areas in the South Caucasus” (ECOSERV), which is delegated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The project contributes to the overall objective of the EU Action, which is to improve energy efficiency and contribute to environmental protection and sustainability.

Objective: The project is part of the EU Action “EU for Energy Efficiency and Environment” and the project “Natural Resources Management and Ecosystem Services for Sustainable Development of Rural Areas in the South Caucasus” (ECOSERV), delegated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Federal Republic (BMZ) and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The project contributes to the overall objective of the EU Action, namely to improve energy efficiency and contribute to environmental protection and sustainability.

Beneficiaries: low-income and vulnerable households. Public and community institutions: kindergartens, health care, cultural centers, etc.

Expected results: The use of energy-efficient solid biofuel stoves will be promoted in vulnerable, low-income households and the capacity of local producers will be developed.

․ Support for raising awareness and disseminating best practices on EE and RE in local communities, regions and at the national level.

․ Pilot actions will be implemented in selected households, including (partial) thermal insulation and other innovative measures, based on preliminary feasibility studies and assessments.

․ Small-scale RE (installation of solar panels up to 5 kW, solar water heaters) and/or simple EE measures in public/community buildings will be promoted.

․ Support will be provided for larger scale RE (solar plants with a capacity of about 20-25 kW or more) and EE activities in public/community facilities that have a large impact on a larger segment of the local population.

․Possibilities for promoting alternative biomass agricultural production and alternative biofuels will be explored.
