Civic Participation, Data Visualization, and Local Government
International Conference – Call for Participation
Do you know how the local government budget is planned and spent in your country? Are you interested in data visualization?
Apply as a participant for the conference, organized by Compass Research, Training and Consultancy Center with support from the International Visegrad Fund and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The long-term goal of the conference’s underlying project is to increase citizen participation as well as the transparency of local governments through effective community governance by improving information flows and applying innovative technologies.
Experts from the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia (see below) will be sharing their experiences during the conference. They will give presentations about the visual budget creation process, the challenges associated with using budget data, and how to use the main points of data visualization to better communicate how local money is spent.
The conference will be held in English language.

Place: Gyumri, Armenia
Application deadline: October 20, 2017
Costs: Participation in the conference is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the organizers.
Who can apply?
Applicants from different professional backgrounds will be considered to take part in the conference such as journalists, IT-specialists, researchers, professionals from the public sector, governmental as well as non-governmental and other organizations, who have experience in data visualizations.
