Studies conducted by the “Compass” NGO have shown that residents of Akhuryan community are almost unaware of how the community budget is formed and spent.
This is evidenced by surveys conducted among the population, as well as the low level or absence of residents’ participation in the council sessions. The council’s decisions are entirely unanimous. For example, all decisions of the council in 2015 were unanimous, only one of the decisions was not unanimous: one of the 6 council members voted against the decision, and one abstained.
The “Participatory Budgeting for a Prosperous Community” program aims to increase awareness of the community budget and the level of informed participation among the residents of Akhuryan community and broad segments of civil society at all stages of the community budget process.
The expected results are:
3 youth groups for monitoring the community budget formed in Akhuryan community,
Reserved and informed citizens interested in the community budget

Results of community needs assessment,
Developed and adopted by the local government community development programs.
